A contact with Ben Worley, in charge of the demos of flood property with the city, has clarified the delay at 124 Ewingville.
He states that the contractor will be returning to Franklin next week. He has one demo ahead of 124 Ewingville.
Mr. Worley does not know how long this will take. He feels it could be another 2 weeks until the contractor arrives on Ewingville.
Remember to watch and protect the trees with orange ribbons. They are not to be taken down but left for the land and our enjoyment. Phone contacts to Ben Worley are on the right of this posting.

Mr. Worley states that he hopes this demo is done by Thanksgiving depending on all details being worked out. |

124 CLOSED!!
The Fristz have left us a message on the side of the house:
"We CLOSED. Goodbye Ewingville. We are going to miss you all."
A contact with Ben Worley, Project Manager for the demolition of flood properties on Ewingville, states that it will be 2-3 weeks before the contractor can schedule this demo.
We need to be watching the trees to remain. I have been told that just a few will be removed. Mr. Worley felt it would be easier to ribbon the trees to be removed because there are so few of them.
I have questioned putting ribbons on the trees to remove that could cause confusion with the machine operator. I have suggested large red x marks on the trees to be removed. Ribbons on trees in the past have meant that tree would be left standing. No reply as of this posting.
Please help with vigilance in observing the trees at 124. Information to contact Ben Worley is to the right of this posting.

124 Ewingville Ribbons on Trees
Information from Ben
Worley, Project Manager for Franklin, overseeing the house demos
on Ewingville, confirmed on September 12 that the city is about a month away
from owning 124 Ewingville.
Concerning ribbons on
trees Mr. Worley has stated that it would likely be easier to put ribbons on
trees to be removed. He felt this was
only a couple of trees. No ribbons will
go on trees until the city owns the property.
Every attempt will be
made to ascertain which trees will have ribbons…those going or staying. It appears now that most of the trees at 124
Ewingville will remain.
It is still likely that the property will be cleared by Thanksgiving 2012.

Info on 124 Ewingville
I have had a contact
with Ben Worley, Project Manager for Franklin, overseeing the house demos on
Ewingville. One house, 124 Ewingville,
remains to be demolished.
Mr. Worley states
that the week of August 20 a contract will be sent to the home owner. If the contract has been signed by the owner
then the property will be closed in the week of September 17, 2012. Asbestos scheduling and abatement with removal
of asbestos is scheduled the week of October 15, 2012. Demolition would be scheduled for the week of
October 22. It is scheduled to be completed by November 1, 2012.
All of the demo
schedule is dependent upon the contractor’s other projects in progress to be
able to return to Ewingville. This
schedule is dependent upon the return of the contract by the home owner.
In response to retaining the maple trees at 124 Ewingville, Mr. Worley has stated that the city is still planning to leave all of the trees discussed before with me in late June. However, the large Cedar and Magnolia on the Forbes property were to have been left and they are gone.
Other trees to be left and subsequently removed are likely miscommunication.
Being aware of the beautiful maples at 124 during the final demo will be important for all neighbors. A phone contact to Ben Worley is in the top right pane of this blog for anyone to use.

Important meeting: Trees and Buy Out
Meeting with
City Project Manager, Ben Worley
119 Ewingville, Buck House
June 13, 6:30
PM Bring yard chairs.
This
information was gathered by Roxie Marston on June 5, 2012 while on the Buck
property.
I found Ben
Worley, Franklin Project Manager, and began to ask questions. I got a lot
clarified about the demolition of the houses, land restoration and the ways
selected trees will remain.
Ben Worley is
Row Agent/Project Manager with Franklin.
It is his task to oversee the demolition of the buildings on the buyout
property. He is also in charge of the
land restoration.
Maintenance
of the city’s property has not been decided.
Ben Worley feels it will either be Parks and Recreation or Maintenance.
Ben Worley
clarified that each contractor bidding on the removal of the houses has been
told in writing to take all of the trees with a clause written in excluding
selected trees. He and the city arborist will decide what trees should
remain. He also feels that a lot of
trees will remain.
Mr. Worley feels that contractors bidding are telling the truth when
they say they are to take all of the trees.
They have been asked to put total tree removal in their bids. However, Ben Worley and the city arborist
will be in charge of deciding which trees remain. From my conversation with Ben I feel a fair
number of trees will be retained.
Ben has said that all pines and ornamental trees are to be removed. These would cause extra maintenance as they fall. Hardwood trees will be preserved unless they have been damaged by another tree. Please reply to the E mail address in your "Letter of Invite" to this blog. |
