Info on 124 Ewingville

I have had a contact with Ben Worley, Project Manager for Franklin, overseeing the house demos on Ewingville.  One house, 124 Ewingville, remains to be demolished.

Mr. Worley states that the week of August 20 a contract will be sent to the home owner.  If the contract has been signed by the owner then the property will be closed in the week of September 17, 2012.  Asbestos scheduling and abatement with removal of asbestos is scheduled the week of October 15, 2012.  Demolition would be scheduled for the week of October 22. It is scheduled to be completed by November 1, 2012.

All of the demo schedule is dependent upon the contractor’s other projects in progress to be able to return to Ewingville.  This schedule is dependent upon the return of the contract by the home owner.

In response to retaining the maple trees at 124 Ewingville, Mr. Worley has stated that the city is still planning to leave all of the trees discussed before with me in late June.  However, the large Cedar and Magnolia on the Forbes property were to have been left and they are gone.

Other trees to be left and subsequently removed are likely miscommunication.

Being aware  of the beautiful maples at 124 during the final demo will be important for all neighbors.  A phone contact to Ben Worley is in the top right pane of this blog for anyone to use.

Removing 127 Ewingville.

A contact with Ben Worley, Project Manager for the city, states that the contractor plans to start this week removing the house at 127 Ewingville.

Listening to WAKM from New Hampshire on 7/25/2012 I learned that the dam on the Harpeth has been removed.  This is the Dam Cam.

Delayed Start

We have had a communication from Ben Worley, Project Manager with the City of Franklin.  He states that the contractor got behind and could not start the demolition July 11 or 12.  As of July 16, 2012, the contractor is moving in.  He will be on the street until houses at 115, 117 and 127 Ewingville are gone.

Demolition to begin

The contractor, Modern Day Wrecking Company, Nashville, is completing paperwork to begin the removal of properties at 117 and 119 Ewingville.   The contractor is planning to start next Wednesday or Thursday, July  11 or July 12, 2012.

Ben Worley, project manager states that any information gotten from workers onsite should not be taken to be the truth. If there is a question that comes up please ask him.

Meeting held June 13, 2012

Fifteen houses were represented at the meeting with city officials to discuss buyout properties, trees and restoration on June 13, 2012.  The meeting occurred at 119 Ewingville, Buck home.  Approximately 20 residents attended this meeting.

Ben Worley, project manager for removing buy out houses and restoring the land volunteered to let us gather and learn information from him.  Aldeman Ann Petersen was in attendance. 

The contractor, selected by BOMA (Board of Mayor and Aldermen), is Modern Day Wrecking Company...Nashville. They will work 7-6 M-F and 9-6 on Sa.

Buy out properties at 117 and 119 Ewingville have been paid. It will take 2-3 weeks to get contracts signed and the houses  will be completed  with the demolishion complete within 30 days.  Land restoration will complete the project.  Land restoration includes proper drainage, and restoring the land to support grass.

The property at 127 Ewingville, Forbes, has been signed by them.  The closing has not occurred as of June 13, 2012. All properties have to be complete 90 days after closing. The use of this land was discussed. Ann Peterson. Alderman, said that the plans for the walking trail are on the other side of the river. Ben Worley, Project Manager, was not clear on how the land could be used after completion. He said there were 3 pages of restrictions from FEMA but he felt that a parking lot of gravel could be used. Those assembled told him they were not interested in any parking lot. This decision does not fall under his jurisdiction.

At this time only some of the trees at 119 Ewingville, Buck’s, have orange ribbons. As of Friday, June 8, 2012 the City officially owns 117 Ewingville, David and 119 Ewingville, Buck properties. Remember: Discuss with officials the trees on buy out properties June 13, 2012   at 6:30 PM at 119 Ewingville. Bring yard chairs and questions. Meeting has been arranged at the suggestion of city officials.
