Important!!! Write the Corp of Engineers---Flooding Ewingville

Neighbors

At last we have a way to be proactive about the future of flood control as it affects Ewingville.  This may be our first real opportunity to be heard where it matters most.

The Corp of Engineers is doing a feasibility study of flooding on the Harpeth as it affects Nashville, Williamson County and Franklin.  They held a meeting on November 13 in City Hall.  We did not get a notice of this meeting sooner than 4 hours before it.  Immediately the E mail list was sent the notice of this meeting.

Amanda Burt from the Corp was at the meeting.  She is in charge of the feasibility study.  This study will take 18 months.

Basically the Corp wants to hear from people as it begins to analyze flood risk management and ecosystem restoration for the Harpeth.

This is your opportunity to state how the flood of May 1, 2010 affected you.  Were you out of your property, how long, and at what expense? Were you warned ahead that major flooding was to occur?  What other feelings or concerns do you have?

Write to Amanda.L.Burt@usace.army.mil   She does want to hear from each of us.

Ann Petersen, Alderman at Large, will continue to keep this blog webmistress informed.  Information will be posted as soon as it is known.  There will be a similar meeting sometime in Bellevue.  The date is not known.

Alert: 9-7-2013 Suspicious Activity

September 7, 2013 Becky Coyle, 105 Ewingville, observed a suspicious person coming from the house next door to her.  A male was assumedly delivering coupons for Baskin Robins according to what he told her.

Becky called Baskin Robins corporate and learned that they were not distributing coupons on Ewingville Drive.  The person then went to Blue Grass.

Becky did call Franklin City Police to drive the street but it took them a long time to respond.

Ewingville now has had a second reason to become very observant to neighborhood activity.

You should call the Franklin City Police if suspicious of any unusual presence.  You should call folks on this street.
To report a life-threatening emergency or crime in progress, dial 911.
For non-emergency police assistance,   call (615) 794-2513

A phone contact list will be generated to be shared in E mail to residents.  If you wish to be in this contact list for the street please E mail your phone # to: MarsCreate@aol.com   This comes to Roxie Marston 129 Ewingville.  The list of phone numbers will not be posted on our Ewingville News Blog.

Break-In and Robbery on Ewingville!

A break in and robbery occurred between August 6 and 7, 2013 at 108 Ewingville Drive.

Becky Crowell, home owner, was not at home.  The house was ransacked.  A computer, laptop, ipad , TV and phone were taken.  Each of these items have gps tracking installed on them.

Becky wants the neighborhood to know that she feels this was a targeted break in.  Her deceased father’s room was the worst ransacked.  Becky does not feel that the neighborhood is being scrutinized.

The Williamson County Sherriff’s department has ask Becky Coyle to set up a neighborhood meeting to establish a Neighborhood Watch.  Becky is working on this.

In the meantime each of the neighborhood resisdents should become vigilant about any unusual cars or activity.  Reporting any such incidences could stop a crime in action.
To report a life-threatening emergency or crime in progress, dial 911.
For non-emergency police assistance,   call (615) 794-2513

Post Demo contacts

Now that Ewingville is past the demolition of buildings residents need to know contacts with the city.

The Streets Department is in charge of keeping culverts clear.  Storm drains contact:  Joe York….615-791-3254, joey@franklintn.gov or
Steve Grubs….615-550-6887, Steveg@franklintn.gov.

A message was left with Mr. York on 4-30-2013, concerning the debris blocking the culvert at 124, formerly Fritz property.  This was a result of the torrential rains on April 27 and 28, 2013.  The culvert was cleared on 5-2-2013.

Mowing...Parks Department...Kevin Lindsey,  615-794-2103 Steveg@franklintn.gov

Ben Worley, Project Manager for the demolitions, was asked about the standing water on the properties at 117 and 119.  He replied that this has been the pattern on previous demos until the grass begins to grow.  Standing water on those properties did
dissipate.

Four of four demos DONE!

Sometime during the third week of December the last Ewingville home to be demolished went down.  The house at 124 Ewingville was the last victim of the May 2010 flood.

Neighbors have reported that the many ribboned trees are standing. The yard has been strawed and looks nice.

Please remember that this Ewingville News Blog will remain active.  You will recieve an E mail when it has been updated.

Ewingville stil has many of its trees!
